Particularly making sure the infrastructure serves the business objectives and not the other way round. Richard will look for opportunities to comment on misalignments and situation where they were seduced by the real estate.”

July 2011 - Business in a random world
The business environment has changed and continues to change! Understatement!
But many managers have not realised just how much has changed. In the early days of the recession many organisations and people were “in the same boat”.
That homogeneity is dead. Now infinite variations exist amongst organisations and individuals. An agenda, issues, challenges, hopes, fears are all different now. Leaders, managers, and staff have reacted differently to their experiences through the “survival” zone.
Markets have also changed. Customer’s preferences, expectations and demands have changed. Competitors, their balance sheets and their levels of resilience look different too. Suppliers and supply chains have had to equip themselves for survival.
The successful organisations of tomorrow are already showing themselves. How do you spot them?
A key is that they are taking a completely fresh look at their external market. They are spotting some seemingly small, subtle changes which often lead to bigger opportunities or challenges
World class leaders are helping their organisations to respond differently. Old strategies, tactics, techniques and models probably don’t work anymore. With so much change (past present and future) equipping managers with the skills to manage a range of people with different experiences, motivations and skills is critical. Management of a homogeneous group is no longer the challenge.
Everything is about aligning everything. And continually realigning everything. The ability of an organisation and its management team to respond to change is a fundamental core competence for most businesses. This is even more true today.
