Paul's Latest Thoughts

"Paul’s area of special interest is Execution and Innovation – what could be achieved and what should be achieved. In particular, the idea that there is a constant tension between focused execution and the call to innovate and adapt, creating a fundamental business challenge. Paul will regularly comment when he sees or reads good, bad or just interesting examples of this challenge."

Keep on Changing

Business plan execution is difficult enough to do well on its own but it is never enough on its own to create sustainable business. We know that the process of execution can become so intense and myopic that all external influences are excluded, no matter how obvious it may seem to an outsider. We are all too well aware of what happens when a large number of organisations do this at the same time.

On the other hand, the process of innovation can become so seductive and creatively fulfilling that time passes and management are distracted.

For many it is an either or question. For some it is a ‘to and fro’ question. For others it is just an impossible dichotomy.

I will regularly share anything I find interesting that might give clues or confidence. Occasionally I may just write common sense and encourage its use.”
